If you haven’t heard about the news or releases this week, I’m going to assume your place of residence is under a large boulder. A ton of awesome new stuff this week.
New Games to Play
Horizon Zero Dawn
The critically acclaimed, robot dinosaur hunting game hit PS4 this week. I’m only a fee hours in, but it has proven to be a pretty fun game so far. If you have a PS4, I at least recommend giving this game a chance before deciding whether or not you want to purchase it. It’s currently available on redbox, so you can try it out before shelling out 60 bucks.
Nintendo has finally released its new handheld/home console hybrid. Most reviews seem mixed to positive at the moment. The system may not have the strongest launch, but with upcoming games and announcements, as well as the 60 recently showcased indie titles, it could prove to be a moderate success over time. You can read about the history of playing handheld games on TV screens here. Not going to mention every launch game, just the ones which seem the most interesting.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The first modern open world Zelda game. Early impressions are saying this game is really enjoyable, and different enough from Horizon. A cool part of this game seems to be being able to solve certain problems in different ways by using certain items. Even though many are skeptic of the Switch itself, this game is getting insanely positive reviews (98 Metascore as of writing this). Definitely check it out if & when you can.
Super Bomberman R
The first Bomberman game in seven years, and the first to have a physical release in nine. An enjoyable multiplayer experience. You can read more about the development of this game here.
This new puzzle game definitely looks like a fun time, and impressions so far have been relatively positive. It’s a digital shop exclusive.
New Stuff to Watch
Hugh Jackman’s last outing as Wolverine, the third movie with Wolverine as the main character, and the first to be rated R. Early reviews have been mostly positive, and this could possible be the best X-Men related movie yet.
