Most Anticipated TV Shows 2017

I don’t watch television all that much, but the rise of streaming services like Netflix and Hulu have made me tune in to new shows a bit more. Here are some of the TV shows I’m most excited for in 2017. For anime TV shows, see my Most Anticipated Anime of 2017, this list will be updated as more shows and dates are announced.

A Series of Unfortunate Events Part 1 (January 13th, Netflix)

Netflix makes their own adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s beloved book series. With the current track record of Netflix original series, and Neil Patrick Harris playing the villainous Count Olaf, it’s sure to be an entertaining, and hopefully faithful adaptation. Previously, a movie based off of the series was released by Nickelodeon Movies in 2004 , starring Jim Carrey as Count Olaf. Despite mostly positive reviews from critics, it did not do the series justice.

Voltron Legendary Defender Season 2 (January 20th, Netflix)

The second season of the newest Voltron series, helmed by the Legend of Korra team. I felt that the series was decent, but it’s Y7 rating held it back from being as great as it could be. Maybe the second season will be able to prove me wrong.

Iron Fist Season 1 (March 17th, Netflix)

The defender that I had been waiting for finally makes his way to the small screen. It’ll be interesting to see how they introduce more mystical elements to the gritty world of Marvel Netflix series.

Jessica Jones Season 2 (Netflix TBA)

After a phenomenal first season, the reluctant hero is slated to return for a second outing. With Kilgrave gone, who will she be fighting against? A question many fans are waiting for the answer to.

The Defenders Season 1 (Netflix TBA)

The long awaited team up of all the Marvel Netflix superheroes. It’s unknown what threat they will have to face, but fans are excited to find out.

Stranger Things Season 2 (Summer 2017, Netflix)

The surprise hit of Summer 2016 returns. What weirdness is in store for our characters this time? Are Will and Eleven okay? We’ll have to wait and see.

The Flash Season 3 second half (January 24th, CW)

The only show I watch when it airs. This series has managed to help make The Flash my favorite DC superhero, as well as one of my all time favorites. At the end of the first half, we caught a glimpse of a possible future, and in this half of the season we’ll see Barry Allen and his team to do everything they can to try and prevent it.

Legion (February 8th, FX)

An X-men spin off about a mutant who believes he’s mentally ill. As it turns out, he may be one of the most powerful mutants to exist.

Bojack Horseman Season 4 (Summer 2017, Netflix)

The depressed, alcoholic, truth speaking horse comes back for another season. Will he be able to make a come back from his failed shot at movie stardom?

Samurai Jack Season 5/Final Season (TBA, Adult Swim/Cartoon Network)

This long awaited finale will finally be released, after lack of information about it throughout the last year.

The Punisher Season 1 (Netflix TBA)

The breakout star of Daredevil‘s second season gets his own series.
